Shiseido Travel Retail Asia Pacific is looking for a Retail Education & Makeup Artistry Senior Executive for both our prestige makeup brands NARS and skincare brand Drunk Elephant. This position is based in Shanghai, China. As a key member of the Travel Retail team, you will be responsible to drive and execute the Brands’ education strategies, to develop and deliver PRC consumer-centric retail training for our beauty consultants, promoters, and generic staff (GS) for China retailers. 





NARS & Drunk Elephant Training and Development (60%)

  • In collaboration with the Retail Education Manager, to support and execute Brands’ Education Strategies and training plans aligned to marketing launches and sales strategies for Greater China TR market.
  • Support the customization, translation, and preparation of training materials in accordance with brand guidelines to suit TR environment.
  • Conduct training programs that focus on outstanding customer experience, product knowledge, artistry and selling skills to support brand business strategy and marketing launches.
  • Support new door openings with timely initial training for Beauty Consultants and Generic Staff.
  • Work with Retail Education Manager to evaluate training initiatives, analyse service standards and sales reports to make recommendations for improvement. Develop and execute on follow-up action plans.
  • Adopt a blended learning approach with face-to-face, virtual, coaching, e-learning, social media, and training videos for an engaging learning journey.
  • Keep abreast of social media, competitor activities, retailer / China market trends, Brand’s activities in local markets and make recommendations.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to develop counter selling tools / cheat sheets.
  • Develop NARS Makeup Artists through brand artistry certification.


Coaching to Drive Retail Excellence (15%)

  • Together with the Retail Managers, develop and lead the execution of personalised coaching and follow-up activities that elevate and build Beauty Consultants’ capabilities (includes product knowledge, selling technique, customer service etc) to drive Retail Excellence and achieve business goals.


Live Streaming (10%)

  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing, Marketing, Commercial and retailer teams in planning and executing livestreaming (LS) activities.
  • Support Team in livestream operations including crafting livestream dialogue, product training of LS hosts/co-hosts.
  • Ensure Beauty Consultants are equipped with livestreaming skills and knowledge, provide support and coaching as needed.
  • Other ad-hoc livestream duties assigned.


Events (10%)

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing in planning and executing consumer workshops and events, as well as managing social media / press events.
  • Manage, train, and run on-counter events with Beauty Consultants and Promoters to impart beauty tips and techniques to consumers, as well as meet sales targets.


Operations & Administration (5%): 

  • Responsible for all logistics and administrative work around training sessions including liaising directly with operators, training setup / materials / collaterals / testers and training gifts inventory upkeep, and uniforms.
  • Work closely with Retail Education Manager to keep all training and traveling expenses within budget. Ensures compliance with all Finance, Demand Planning, Procurement & Legal requirements and processes.
  • Establish and maintain Beauty Consultants’ grooming standards and adherence to the Brand’s image and guidelines.
  • Support in the organisation of and facilitate training at annual BC conference & Boot Camp.
  • Submits all training reports as required on timely basis.
  • Provide input to Retail team regarding reward and incentive plans for Beauty Consultants and to support Beauty Consultants’ motivation programs and activities
  • Provide feedback on product assortment, merchandising and stocks   




  • Bachelor's Degree in any related discipline
  • Possessed a Diploma in Professional Makeup
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience and preferably coming from /or a similar industry
  • Strong artistry skills are required, with a passion for education. Skincare, e-learning, social media, livestream experience (a plus)
  • Must be able to engage an audience whilst demonstrating and explaining MU techniques used, either on-ground events or livestream
  • Open to work on weekends or at night following store event or livestream schedules.
  • Strong command of spoken and written Mandarin (Putonghua) is required, for classroom/event presentations and translations into both Traditional and Simplified Chinese
  • Working knowledge of English i.e., must be able at minimum, to comprehend and speak English, to partner with Marketing teams and other English-speaking stakeholders
  • Proactive, sales-driven, strong communication and interpersonal skills, highly organized, team player and attentive to details
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Frequent travelling is required (at least 50%)
