Job Summary 


Reporting into the Vice President Global Total Rewards, the Global Total Rewards (Group) Manager will co-drive the compensation rewards philosophy and design programs that support Shiseido’s philosophy and culture. A hands-on subject matter expert responsible to provide technical expertise and capability for leading the design, development, implementation and administration of Shiseido’s compensation, benefits, short and long-term incentive programs.



Key Responsibilities


Compensation activities


  • Participate in design and development of global total rewards program initiatives, processes, standards and policies to achieve desired market compensation positioning that support a strong market-based pay for a performance environment. Enable and support Region and Global HR practitioners in program deployment of these.
  • Ensuring internal equity and external market competitiveness of the Company’s compensation through strategic monitoring of business conditions, legal requirements and understanding of industry best practices to enhance talent acquisition, retention, and employee engagement. Provide market intelligence and competitive market benchmarking. 
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise, consultation and advice to Regional and Global HR practitioners, senior leadership teams and managers on global compensation, benefits, short and long-term incentive programs and policy to drive a consistent and aligned global total rewards strategy and framework. Provides key stakeholders with a market leading total reward experience and level of service.
  • Partner and advise the Region Compensation teams to ensure global approach and standards are adhered to in conducting compensation surveys. Implement strategies in line with business goals and values and provide flexibility and local customization to account for cultural and market differences.
  • Actively participate in the successfully implementation and management of executive compensation activities for the Company’s Global Key Personnel (GKPs), including annual compensation planning cycle, promotion review periods, salary survey participation, etc. Establish compensation governance, such as Remuneration Committee.
  • Develop, maintain, and update the global salary range structures and philosophy, and train management at all levels to make and communicate pay decisions in alignment with this new philosophy and practice through delivery of management and employee training and compensation decision support tools.
  • Manage, maintain and fine-tune the annual One Shiseido Bonus program, to include the establishment and operation of the program governance on plan rules, program KPIs and incentive curves, etc.



Long-Term Incentive (LTI) activities


  • Lead the annual equity LTI incentive programs and other deferred compensation plans.
  • Prepare and process participant communications, annual/pro-rated equity grants, cancellations, exercises, vesting and releases for all global LTI-eligible participants.
  • Verify data prior to large vesting events to ensure appropriate taxation.
  • Manage strategic relationship with vendor partners and consultants with focus on seamless/digitized employee experience, transaction and reporting accuracy, compliance as well as innovative trends.
  • Ensure accurate calculation and reporting of stock compensation expense, annual budget, and expense forecasting.
  • Review continually the equity LTI processes, procedures and plan rules to identify opportunities for both internal and external process improvements and recommend solutions for implementation to drive program efficiency as well as enhancing employees’ experience. 



Benefits activities


  • Measure and analyse key data trends and drive strategic decisions based on data on benefits. 
  • Continuously benchmark, align and improve our global benefits footprint through strategic direction, process improvement, cost management, and identifying appropriate opportunities for change or investment.



Other activities


  • Reinforce company-wide total rewards-related policies and processes to enhance corporate governance and risk management and ensure compliance with all regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead, manage, and participate in ad hoc Total Rewards Projects, task forces and special assignments.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to other Global Total Rewards members to develop talent and drive strong performance.
  • Conduct job evaluation/analysis of existing and new positions and assist our HR practitioners and manager´s involved in the career path/ladder formation in a transparent fashion and with equity at the forefront.
  • Leverages technology to enhance total rewards reporting, communications, and process simplification.
  • Ensures that accurate estimates, forecasts, and calculations of expenditures in compensation align with budget planning and tracking.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Strong and deep subject matter expertise in global compensation.
  • Project management knowledge and skill set.
  • 8+ years of progressive multinational Global Total Rewards experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business, Economics or Diploma course in Compensation Management.
  • Passionate about elevating Total Rewards, bringing fresh ideas to the table.
  • Ability to synthesize complexity, ambiguity and simplify this effectively for audiences and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work comfortably in both strategic and tactical operational work.
  • Financial acumen, analytical skills and data oriented.
  • Ability to listen and discern well, influence effectively and a role model in communication (verbal/written).
  • Ability to plan, organize well and manage competing priorities under pressure.
