Overall Position Description 


The Global Mobility Specialist/Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of Shiseido’s global mobility programs ensuring the program fully supports Shiseido’s talent acquisition and talent management initiatives.  At Shiseido, the global mobility function includes all short and long-term international assignments, one-way international permanent transfers, relocation and immigration.  This person is responsible for ensuring a high level of service with a key focus on employee experience.  Additionally, this person is responsible for global mobility program compliance, supplier partner management and ensuring the program meets the needs of our regional and global businesses and stakeholders.  The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of managing employee mobility and immigration.



Roles and Responsibilities


  • Is the lead and main contact on case management, collaborating with Business Units (BUs) and Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs) by providing mobility support, direction, and consulting on appropriate assignment options for individual global mobility cases.
  • Oversees the mobility program ensuring delivery on its service delivery commitments.
  • Engages and manages vendor relationships and performance measurement across immigration, relocation, tax. Ensures that vendors provide high quality experience to our internal stakeholders.
  • Delivers cost effective mobility support while maintaining appropriate levels of business unit support through means such as leveraging global supplier arrangements and negotiating best terms to match company requirements.
  • Ensures that BUs are compliant focused in all jurisdictions, to manage company and personal risk and ensure good governance.
  • Coordinates internal stakeholder engagement in an efficient manner to allow all stakeholders to focus on the ‘value add’ aspects of their respective roles.
  • Establishes and maintains a robust approach to track and govern all mobility cases, providing reporting and analysis to BUs and HRBPs on performance and areas of compliance and risk.
  • Preparation of assignment cost estimates, with input from relevant parties, for BUs and HRBPs to support to the assignment planning decision process.
  • Partners with internal and external partners to ensure given advice is taken where needed and processes are in place to support people moves and the Company around taxation, payroll, health insurance, etc.
  • Provides regular communication, education to inform the business of policy and regulation updates, and provide practical advice in the application of the Global Mobility program and framework.
  • Other ad hoc projects designed to enhance the Global Mobility agenda across the Shiseido group.
  • Develops strong relationship with HR, payroll teams, tax, etc. to establish one global Centre of Excellence on immigration, personal income tax and mobility.  





  • At least 5 years mobility and/or tax experience in a global mobility team/professional services firm with general knowledge of expat tax and salary/payroll related issues.
  • Strong customer service orientation and supplier management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the stakeholders. Strong influential skill to support initiatives.
  • Ability to work at both operational and strategic levels
  • Ability to mitigate unforeseen problems creatively and effectively
  • Ability to translate the technical nature of mobility work (immigration, international taxation) for clear stakeholder understanding
