Store Designer, Prestige Makeup

This role sits within the Retail Design Centre, with its global headquarters in Singapore. The design hub centralises the development of creative assets and brand collateral, with an aim towards delivering and maintaining a strong and consistent expression of Shiseido’s brands in travel-retail worldwide. Managing the Prestige Makeup brand portfolio, the incumbent plays a vital role to communicate with brand holders, external vendors, as well as regional representatives (Store Design, Visual Merchandising, Marketing and Commercial) on retail design matters.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • In collaboration with brand holders, generate plan layouts and 2D detail drawings (including 3D visualization, if required) for further development of technical packages by regions.
  • To ensure designs incorporate market and business needs.
  • Maintain communication and exchanges with visual merchandising and region project management teams in ensuring proposed drawings issued, are aligned with brand guidelines while addressing regional needs.
  • To market proposed store designs to brand holder as well as regional representatives for their buy-in of the designs.
  • Review shop drawings submissions by regions, for any possible technical issues, prior to securing approvals from brand holders.  
  • Work with regional representatives to ensure their understanding of material usage is in accordance to Store Design guidelines.
  • Develop new fixture designs and incorporate new innovations for global roll-out in travel retail.
  • Maintain and update library for brand’s fixtures designs, materials and counter photos.
  • Conduct regular update meetings/teleconferences with regional representatives and brand holders on key projects; review and propose solutions to potential issues.
  • Work with external vendors for prototyping and events (eg. Tax-Free events, counter workshops).

 

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Industrial Design.
  • At least 3 - 5 years of working experience in retail design, preferably with luxury brands. Prior experience in Travel Retail environment will be a plus.
  • Proficient in design software such as Sketch up, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop.
  • Able to work independently and ability to multi-task and manage the workload with tight timeline.
    • Creative eye with attention to detail and aesthetic sense (preferably with architect background).
    • Have an acute eye for detail and ensure high level of precision in the drawings.
    • Excellent communication and creative storytelling skills – verbal, written.
    • Excellent organization skills, able to prioritize, plan, deliver on time.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders (and remote teams) and to lead and nurture juniors.
    • Solution-orientated.
