Asia Pacific - Regional Manager, Education and Artistry, NARS

MAIN PURPOSE

The Regional Manager, Education and Artistry reports directly to the Senior Regional Brand Director, Asia Pacific. It is a dedicated, supporting role that provides educational direction and support as aligned with NARS Cosmetics’ Global and Asia Pacific growth strategy to every local in-country team in the region. Together with the Senior Regional Brand Director, Asia Pacific, he/she will serve as the voice of the market and ensure education strategies support the growth needs of the brand.

 

The incumbent takes on a 360 approach to training and education to lead, motivate and drive the teams across the region to succeed. He or she is responsible in elevating the in-country field and training teams in strategic multi-level program delivery, artistry, coaching and performance management for NARS Cosmetics including artistry skills and selling/service techniques to drive the NARS Cosmetics business, productivity and service goals in becoming the best-in-class within the prestige makeup industry.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Training and Education – 60%

  • Analyse. strategise, design or adapt and execute tailored multi-level training programs and artistry strategies and action plans across countries within the region e.g. In-class training, field coaching, train the Trainer, seasonal seminars, conferences or summits and other education activities
  • Manage all regional course and content development, training delivery processes and management of resources to deliver best-in-class standards of both digital and traditional content and ongoing performance management
  • Partner with Global Education Department, regional and country teams to ensure flawless and consistent implementation and execution of programs across all omnichannel environments (free-standing stores, department stores and open-sell)
  • Lead all training seminars and programs e.g. on-boarding, basic trainings, seasonal and artistry workshops
  • Reinforce retail link-sales activities i.e. client-telling and pre-sell activities that drive goal attainment
  • Manage and lead the Asia Pacific Education Summit, defining content to create strong engagement, drive sales and elevate artistry
  • Develop and guide distributor markets - Identify key opportunities for Mecca and accelerate to build a solid field team in India (visit at least 2X/year each)
  • Establish the regional Artistry Team (Top Regional Makeup Artists from selected markets) - to sustain on-ground eventing and masterclasses eg. defining selection process, career progression, activities for regional events and support to be activated in 2024
  • Establish a Regional Recognition Program linked to field motivation and retail performance
  • Ensure active engagement and usage of NARS Digital Studio by all Artists and Trainers
  • Assist or support countries on occasion with physical in-store presence during such activities and events e.g. Masterclasses, PR events, one-on-one interviews
  • Attend Global Education Conference twice per year to participate in and contribute to the development of global programs and share SAPAC initiatives and achievements. Partner with Regional peers to elevate programs and materials to reflect the needs of the markets.

 

Development and Coaching – 30%

  • Responsible for the performance, talent development and training of Asia Pacific country Trainers
  • Plan and facilitate multi-level programs that focus on sales, service and artistry including NARS Artist Certification (basic to advanced) and Artist Career and Development to measure performance and futureproof talent, implementation from 2H 2023 onwards
  • Ensure adequate resourcing and eg. field organisation chart reviews, recognition programs, quality hires and define short, mid and long-term of retail teams in the region
  • Establish clear career-pathing guidelines and programs for all field staff for different tenure stages, inclusive High Potential Artists
  • Train the Trainer : Establish additional leadership programs to educate and elevate in-country Trainers to meet the highest global standards of training objectives and goals eg. 360 feedback, one-on-one coaching, etc.
  • Establish consistent key measurables to track the progress and performance of talents more efficiently and effectively
  • Improve Artist retention and attrition rates

 

Data Management, Consolidation and Reporting – 10%

  • Conduct monthly meetings with the countries and consolidating the key action points for next steps
  • Regular analysis, reporting and key measurable dashboard updates to track progress and performance
  • Compile and disseminate best practices and competitive reviews across the region
  • Ensure regular updates for the NARS Digital Studio app
  • Fully responsible for the education and artistry allocated budgets

Countries responsible    : Asia Pacific (excludes China, Hong Kong and Japan)                             

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum tertiary education
  • Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) qualification preferred
  • Minimum 10 years previous experience within the beauty industry, of which minimum 5 years of on-ground retail experience with team leadership and coaching
  • Makeup Artistry skill is a Must
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills including charismatic presentation and public-speaking
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to guide, train and instruct multi-levels of field staff
  • Self-starter with a positive, can-do mindset and dynamic energy
  • Highly flexible and adaptable
  • Proven exceptional ability in organizational skills and multi-tasking
  • Goal-oriented and people-oriented
  • Well-versed in Microsoft Office, with proficiency in Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Fluent in English. Fluent in other Asian languages preferable
  • Traveling will be required (minimum 20%)
