MAIN PURPOSE

The Regional Legal Manager serves as a key partner in driving business across Asia Pacific, contributing to company growth by providing legal support across commercial contracts, brand management, strategic projects, data privacy, while managing legal and risks for the group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Contract Review & Projects

• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of agreements
• Support regional and cross‑border business projects by providing legal advice throughout the project lifecycle
• Advise business stakeholders on contractual risk, commercial terms, and deal structures to support business objectives
• Develop, review, and maintain standard contract templates, playbooks, and guidance notes to support consistent contracting practices
• Manage external counsel on complex or high‑risk transactions and projects as required

Privacy & Data Protection

• Advise on privacy and data protection matters
• Draft, review and negotiate personal data protection clauses, data processing agreements and templates, privacy notices, etc.
• Review, develop and oversee the company’s policies on privacy and data protection program
• Conduct internal privacy assessments and compliance examinations, including privacy impact assessments, transfer impact assessment, and third-party risk management reviews
• Evaluate, implement and monitor internal privacy and data protection compliance policies
• Provide privacy and data protection training to relevant employees
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments in data protection to anticipate emerging trends, spot issues, and help the company to make informed strategic decisions

Brand Management 

• Advise on brand protection and trademark‑related matters across the region
• Manage and coordinate anti‑counterfeiting activities, including market investigations, enforcement actions, border measures, and online takedowns
• Handle and support criminal and civil enforcement actions against infringers, working with external counsel and relevant authorities
• Conduct trademark searches and advise on brand clearance for marketing and business initiatives
• Manage trademark filings, registrations, renewals, and portfolio maintenance for the SAPAC brands
• Support marketing and commercial teams on brand usage, trademark strategy, and risk management

Risk Management and other Compliance

• Support cross-functional risk management, or crisis response in the region
• Advise on compliance and ethics issues

Legal Support Function

• Support company secretarial matters for APAC entities, including board and shareholder meetings, resolutions, and statutory filings
• Coordinate with external corporate secretarial service providers to ensure timely and accurate maintenance of corporate records
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Experience:

• LLB degree or equivalent, more than 8 years of experience in a law firm and in house
• Preferred but not mandatory: In-house experience in a retail/beauty environment

• Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills across a range of agreements
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrates ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity
• Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information
• Outstanding communication skills
