Asia Pacific - Regional Legal Manager

MAIN PURPOSE

 

  • Serve as a foundation to drive business in Asia Pacific and contribute to company growth by providing competent, skilled, professional legal services
  • Provide legal services to minimize the legal & business risks and to secure the compliance of the group companies

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Shiseido is looking for a Mid-level Legal Counsel with experience in Privacy & Data Protection and Compliance matters to be part of the Legal and Risk Management Team.

 

1. Privacy & Data Protection Work

  • Advise on privacy and data protection matters.
  • Draft, review and negotiate personal data protection clauses, data processing agreements/templates, privacy notices, etc.
  • Review, develop and oversee the company’s policies on privacy and data protection program.
  • Conduct internal privacy assessments and compliance examinations, including privacy impact assessments, transfer impact assessment, and third-party risk management reviews.
  • Evaluate, implement and monitor internal privacy and data protection compliance policies.
  • Provide privacy and data protection training to relevant employees.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments in data protection to anticipate emerging trends, spot issues, and help the company to make informed strategic decisions.

 

2. Risk Management Function and other Compliance Work

  • Supporting cross-functional risk management, or crisis response in the region.
  • Identifying and analysing various risks in the region, evaluate the gravity of each risk by considering its consequences.
  • Evaluate employees’ risk awareness and develop, coordinate, present risk management training across the region.
  • Advise on compliance and ethics issues.
  • Implement and manage the legal compliance programmes to mitigate risk.
  • Provide compliance training to relevant employees.

 

3. Legal Support Function

  • Negotiating, drafting and reviewing contracts and other legal documents when assigned
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • LLB degree or equivalent, more than 5 years of experience in a law firm or in house in a privacy-focused role
  • Preferred but not mandatory:
    • Mix of law firm and in-house experience
    • In-house experience in a retail environment
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
