MAIN PURPOSE

• We are seeking an experienced Korean-qualified lawyer with 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join our in-house legal team.
• The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in legal advisory, contract negotiation and risk management ensure compliance with Korean laws and regulations.
• Serve as a foundation to drive business in Korea and contribute to company growth by providing competent, skilled, professional legal services

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Legal Advisory & Compliance

• Provide legal advice, ensuring compliance with Korean laws.
• Monitor and advise on legislative and regulatory changes affecting the business.
• Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
• Prepare reports on legal operations and issues to RHQ.

2. Contract Drafting & Negotiation

• Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts.
• Identify and mitigate contractual risks while aligning with business objectives.
• Provide strategic legal support for contract disputes and negotiations.

3. Privacy & Data Protection Work

• Advise on privacy and data protection matters, to anticipate emerging trends, spot issues, and help the company to make informed strategic decisions.
• Draft, review and negotiate personal data protection clauses, data processing agreements/templates, privacy notices, etc.
• Review, develop and oversee the company’s policies on privacy and data protection program.

4. Risk Management & Dispute Resolution

• Support internal teams in handling crisis management and compliance-related issues in Korea
• Advise on compliance and ethics issues.
• Identify potential legal risks and develop mitigation strategies, including evaluating employees’ risk awareness and develop, coordinate, present risk management.
• Manage and advise on disputes, litigation, and regulatory investigations, working closely with external counsel when necessary.

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Training

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including senior management in Korea and RHQ Legal & Risk Management teams, to align legal strategies with business objectives.
• Conduct internal legal training sessions to raise awareness of key legal and regulatory risks.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and regulatory bodies as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

• Legally qualified lawyer in Korea.
• 5 years PQE, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
• Strong expertise in corporate law, commercial contracts, privacy and risk management.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both Korean and English.
• Preferred but not mandatory:
  • Experience in a multinational company
  • In-house experience in a retail / beauty industry.
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity
• Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information
