Senior Analyst, Finance, Drunk Elephant US
Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for managing the Drunk Elephant US brand P&L and financial plan, while working closely with the Marketing and Sales teams, as well as the Global Brand holder, to strategically grow the business. The Senior Analyst will assist on ownership of the end-to-end P&L for the brand, including month-end close activities, budgeting, and forecasting. The role also requires business analytics support for key strategic decisions and day-to-day business management.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Partner closely with Drunk Elephant brand’s Marketing teams on management of budgets, forecasts, and monthly shifts in budgets
- P&L ownership, specifically around A&P and fixed costs, being able to explain monthly, quarterly, and annual variances to senior management
- Work closely with Accounting and US Commercial team to lead month-end close activities
- Prepare month-end close journal entries, marketing accruals, and any other ad hoc reclasses
- Actualize marketing budget decks monthly, meeting with the teams to discuss monthly performance, variances, and challenging teams on their budgets
- Lead annual budget planning processes, as well as quarterly and monthly forecasts, through partnership with brand Marketing teams
- Manage end-to-end capital spend process, working closely with Marketing, Sales, and Visual Merchandising teams to create and manage capital budget
- Closely manage depreciation schedules on both the P&L and subledger
- Support Finance Manager with monthly PPT decks to be discussed and reviewed with US General Management
- Build, maintain and analyze the Customer P&Ls and review the profitability by account YTD/YTG. Participate in regular Account Reviews to help drive profitability of accounts
- For strategic accounts, conduct profitability-by-door analysis to weigh benefits of investments at the door level to develop a tiered strategy by size
- In advertising, analyze ROI on Trade spend, GWPs, Coop Advertising, Freelance and Demo
- Partner with Sales & Marketing leads on T&E management
- Other ad hoc projects as requested by management/marketing teams
Qualifications & Competencies:
- College degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management required
- 3-5 years of financial experience; preferably in the prestige cosmetics industry or CPG
- Excellent analytic and computer skills, strong communication ability
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of Cognos, BPC, SAP preferred
- Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Comfort in providing appropriate challenge/pushback and feedback
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive and effective business partnerships
- Ability to successfully manage change and deal with ambiguous situations
- Ability to interact with all levels of management in a fast paced, changing environment
- Must have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
