Director, Product Development (Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare)
Job Summary:
The Product Development Director will partner with the SVP to concept, develop and deliver innovative skincare products & devices that meet all global needs and drive the DDG business, while meeting Brand COG & sustainability objectives. This role has a strong fluency in product trend, ingredient technology and development as well as a keen understanding of channel distribution strategy.
This role will also partner with the SVP regularly to evaluate and optimize department processes and efficiencies and lead the team in SVP’s absence. The Director will manage and mentor 1 or more direct reports.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Partner with SVP, Brand Founders & Global Marketing to deliver an innovative pipeline that meets all global needs to drive Brand growth and support COG objectives
- Present pipeline BlueSky concepts rooted in innovation and data-based research/analysis
- Ensure development of devices and professional-exclusive (retail/backbar) products meets the highest DDG Standards
- Leverage technical expertise and trend fluency to develop compelling pipeline innovation with technology- and ingredient-based stories
- Ensure all project set-up and maintenance in SAC systems and partnering with NPD/OPD to ensure all key milestone dates are met including, but not limited to Formula, Packaging, Clinical, Regulatory, Safety milestones
- Partner closely with brand marketing and education in translating relevant technical insights into meaningful and digestible information regarding technical attributes of formulas and impact to skin anatomy/physiology, customized by audience
- Nurture a strong network across internal and external supply chain to troubleshoot with agility and improve speed to market
- Coach and develop direct reports; Independently manage assignments, priorities and workflows to deliver results
- Travel on-site, as needed, for development, bulk trials, first production, or global innovation conventions
Qualifications & Competencies:
- 6+ years of Clinical Skincare/Prestige Beauty development experience
- Proficient knowledge of ingredients &/or skin physiology
- Bachelor’s Degree Required, preferably in related field
- Microsoft Office Software
