Director, Education & Sales Development (Shiseido & Cle De Peau Beaute)
Job Summary:
The Director of Training and Sales Development US is responsible for ensuring that the team of Training Executives have the most elevated skillset and product knowledge to deliver best-in-class education, host events, and coach retail sales development proactively, reactively, and consistently for Shiseido, Shiseido Fragrances and Clé de Peau Beauté Brands.
This person will work closely with the VP of Education and Events, creating US education strategies to drive commercial and business performance contributing retail sales and rank goals. The Director will lead a culture of excellence, hands-on teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability that cultivates brand knowledge, product knowledge, clienteling, selling skills, service skills, & coaching to support department store BCs, open sell store associates, and the sales team.
This position operates in a multi-branded, team-oriented environment. It works closely with US Marketing, Field Sales, Global Brand Holders, Finance, and Forecasting to drive alignment and execution on all Education initiatives.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work closely with VP to create strategies and KPIs to drive business success and contribute to retail sales and rank goals. Ensure strategies elevate the client experience across all product categories of products and points of distribution.
- Create and implement seasonal education strategies for each brand supporting pillars and newness to achieve sales goals. Align brand education strategies and calendars to fit retailer needs, guidelines and business opportunities.
- Optimize and supervise US TE team training calendar and event hosting schedule across all brands.
- Oversee Training Executives’ contributions to content creation for local and retailer education-based applications.
- Collaborate with Education Content Team (Shiseido & Cle de Peau Beaute) in the creation of seasonal education curriculum and selling skill training materials.
- Collate and socialize POS insights and feedback provided by the TE Team. Identify opportunities and action plans to develop programs that that further support business goals.
- Build individual coaching plans for Training Executives to develop expertise in all aspects of facilitating and delivering best-in-class education across all mediums, coaching, sales conversion and event hosting talents.
- Collaborate cross-functionally in a multi-branded, team-oriented environment with US Marketing, Global Brand Holders, Finance, Forecasting, Events, ADX, Sell-in, and Field Sales Executives to align, drive and execute all Education initiatives.
- Lead the planning, scheduling and coordination of the National Trainers Conference 2x/year.
- Manage the annual budgets for training by brand. Manage T&E for Training Executives. Review monthly expenses and oversee the team’s forecasting of their budgets to maintain accuracy and deliver C.E.P.
- Manage team of 9 Training Executives.
Additional Responsibilities
- Edit Fragrance Brands Training materials for the US market.
- Develop workshops for National Sales Meetings.
- Maintain Team’s skill set in changing retail landscape. Take advantage of new technology and tools to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Support virtual educational and eventing formats with back-end support monitoring chats.
- Liaise with Brand Holders on seasonal training strategies.
- Measure and report on training KPIs.
- Champion a proactive learning culture and deliver the highest standard of education in the Training team and Field.
- Seasonal domestic travel and occasional international travel.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations.
- Attention to detail
- Expert knowledge of skincare, makeup, and fragrance categories.
- Creative and resourceful thinker. Ability to create learning modules and activities.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Training & Education. Experienced in developing and delivering Adult Education programs.
- Strong planning, negotiation, and organizational skills. The ability to prioritize and manage deadlines, as well as be self-motivated and take initiative.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage, develop and challenge a tenured team of direct reports.
- Strategic thinker with agility and flexibility to manage several projects at any given time and respond to business needs.
- Strong analytical skills to analyze qualitative data and review the impact of training programs.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and in developing PowerPoint presentations. Very comfortable using, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, and SAP
- Experience planning national meetings
- Flexibility related to schedule and hours of work. Some domestic travel and potentially international travel.
