Job Summary:

The Senior Copywriter is a critical role within Shiseido’s U.S. Integrated Marketing & Consumer Engagement team and is responsible for defining the voice of brand Shiseido and Cle de Peau Beaute across all consumer-facing communication channels for the U.S. market including owned social channels, paid media, e-mail, brand sites and Retailer.com.

The Senior Copywriter will partner closely with the digital design team and Associate Creative Director to intake and review all project briefs to craft compelling storytelling for the team’s deliverables. In this role you will bring to life the brand and product message strategy to ensure consistent application of brand voice. You’ll write e-mail copy that increases click-through rates, determine how to explain our product benefits, craft catchy and clever social media content and so much more concisely and clearly.

In this role, you will collaborate with various stakeholders in the organization: marketing management, e-commerce, internal digital creatives, in-store, and visual merchandising team, global brand holders as well as internal and external agencies.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop messaging across the creative spectrum, from compelling campaign copy to clear instructional messages, across a wide range of digital deliverables
  • Help define the content strategy and craft messaging for various consumer targets, digital platforms, and all funnel stages
  • Write copy to support product launches including product detail pages, how to use instructions, and more
  • Partner with associate creative director and designers to collaboratively ideate design and copy together
  • Develop scripts for brand videos and education videos
  • Collaborate with marketing, e-commerce, and channel teams to understand message priorities, respond to creative requests and deliver against copy needs for each team
  • Partner with external creative resources on development of campaign messaging; act as liaison with marketing stakeholders
  • Partner closely with Education team on developing a deep understanding of the product portfolio, ingredients, and benefits.
  • Work to gain compliance with Regulatory, Legal and Trademarks on copy approvals
  • Create and maintain a copy style guide to define the “rules of the road” for all consumer-facing copy
  • Own the approval and feedback loops with teams or freelancers who create brand copy, coaching and providing documentation that enables them to uphold our voice and brand standards
  • Continuously monitor and disperse knowledge of copy best practices for digital media and other channels. Ensure adaptation to these trends and changing best practices
  • Adhere to all timelines and deadlines for deliverables


Qualifications & Competencies:

  • 5-7 years copywriting experience in-house for a brand, at a creative agency or media publication
  • Beauty copywriting experience preferred
  • Online portfolio demonstrating copywriting expertise across a variety of digital channels
  • Familiarity with SEO tools and how to naturally integrate SEO into copy
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work under tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing key performance indicators as well as paid and organic metrics
  • Deep understanding of how to write across different digital channels and for different audiences, using channel best practices to customize copy as needed
  • Strong collaborative spirit and a “get it done” mindset
