Interim Head of Visual Merchandising and Retail Design -  UK & Ireland




Reporting directly into the UK & Ireland Country Managing Director, the Interim Head of Visual Merchandising and Retail Design will oversee in-store brand execution across all brands in the UK&I in accordance with the global brands’ visual strategies.

This role manages visual merchandising and retail design across a varied portfolio covering make-up, skincare and fragrances, whilst effectively navigating the internal matrix to influence and collaborate with stakeholders locally, regionally and globally.


Through leadership of the retail design and visual merchandising team he/she will ensure all assets meet the specific needs of the UK customer in order to maximise visual impact and ensure consistent representation of brand image.


This role is a critical member of the UK&I Market Lead team and will play a key role in the driving sales across all distribution channels and in the delivery of our commercial growth and profitability goals.

  • Management: 3 direct reports based in London and a total team of 7
  • Job Location: Flexible working scheme with offices based in London Covent Garden 
  • Contract type: Fixed Term Contract – 12 months



  • Build, drive and deliver the Store Design strategy for all UK&I counters and concessions, ensuring in-store presentation is best-in-class and supports excellent execution in the retail channel in order to enable the implementation of the growth strategy.
  • Leads visual merchandising across all brands in the UK&I, overseeing the execution of all marketing campaigns in-store to ensure the implementation of the guidelines set at regional and global level in order to drive timely, accurate and efficient execution within budget. Work closely with Global and EMEA stakeholders to ensure UK relevant assets
  • Lead, inspire and motivate a team of visual merchandising and retail design professionals, including performance management and professional development, in order to enable the achievement of business objectives
  • Build a motivated, positive, purposeful team culture
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in the wider Brand team, as well as key stakeholders across the UK&I business and at RHQ in order to support the implementation of the growth strategy
  • Be the voice of the UK&I with Regional and Global teams putting our consumer at the centre of everything we develop
  • Strategic budget building and control



  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Track record of managing a visual merchandising and retail design function in a complex customer-focused organisation, ideally in retail and with 10 to 15 years’ experience including 5 in a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external partners, across various cultures. in order to achieve company goals
  • In depth working knowledge of the cosmetics sector or of a similarly face-paced sector (FMCG, Mass retail)
  • Strong and effective leadership and people management skills.
