Manager - Retail Human Resources
MAIN PURPOSE
As the Retail HR Manager, you will lead the full spectrum of HR functions for our retail operations. This includes managing the entire employee lifecycle—from recruitment to offboarding—developing and enforcing HR policies, overseeing onboarding and training programs, and ensuring compliance with labour laws and regulations. You will also be responsible for end-to-end HR operations, including payroll administration.
You will play a key role in ensuring our Retail POS personnel are well-supported, engaged, and aligned with the company’s values and objectives. This will be achieved through close collaboration with the Sales & Retail and Education teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Full spectrum HR activities for Retail Organisation includes:
Recruitment
- Manage end-to-end recruitment for retail roles, including job postings, sourcing, cold calling, screening, interviewing, reference checks, and offer management.
- Plan and conduct onboarding and orientation programs to foster employee engagement and alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and execute effective sourcing strategies to attract high-quality talent.
- Support and drive talent pipeline initiatives through career fairs, campus engagements, industry networking workshops, and other strategic programs.
Compensation and Benefits
- Drive and execute annual merit review and performance bonus exercise for retail organisation
- Assist in review and redesign of the compensation programs where necessary to ensure competitiveness to market
- Evaluate external labour market conditions and internal employee turnover trends to recommend changes
- Administer benefits for retail organisation with external benefit providers
Performance Management, Training and Development
- Conduct performance reviews and establish development plans for retail personnel.
- Support career framework initiatives, including handbook creation, roadmap planning, and redeployment strategies.
- Assist with talent reviews, benchmarking, and calibration exercises.
- Perform job evaluations and assess competency and performance gaps.
- Address performance issues and collaborate with Brand Managers and Sales & Retail Managers to implement corrective actions.
- Identify training needs and coordinate development programs in partnership with Sales & Retail and Education Managers.
Employee Relations
- Act as a point of contact for employees concerns and grievances, providing guidance and resolutions (within retail organisation)
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment through proactive employee engagement initiatives.
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures consistently.
Payroll Processing (Retail POS Personnel)
- Process payroll data, including part-time staff
- Work with respective departments and payroll vendor to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing; including payment to employee, payroll reconciliation, General Ledger posting etc.
HRIS, HR Operations and Compliance (Retail POS Personnel)
- Handle all employee documentation and maintain accurate HR records
- Administer all employee benefits with external benefit provider
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations governing retail operations
- Stay updated on HR best practices and industry trends to maintain compliance and mitigate risks
- Responsible for maintenance of the configuration of the HRMS to ensure compliance with the Company’s policies, practices, and employee handbook
- Any other task or assignments as assigned
Employee Engagement
- Establish systematic internal communication channels to promote openness and transparency across the retail organization
- Drive action plans based on Employee Engagement Survey insights to enhance employee satisfaction and workplace culture.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on HR experience in the FMCG, retail, or beauty industry.
- Strong knowledge of HR functions and practices, particularly in retail operations and POS personnel management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
