Senior Legal Executive
MAIN PURPOSE
This position aims to ensure legal compliance, particularly in contract/agreement review, personal data protection, and government compliance. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to mitigate risks, ensure adherence to laws and company policies, and provide legal guidance to support business growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contract & Agreement Review
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts such as supplier agreements, service contracts, cooperation agreements, and lease agreements.
- Ensure contractual terms protect the company’s interests while maintaining strong business relationships.
- Provide guidance on contract interpretation and dispute resolution.
- Maintain an organized contract management system to track key deadlines and obligations.
- Personal Data Protection & Privacy Compliance
- Ensure the company complies with local and international data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, PDPA, CCPA).
- Develop and implement data protection policies, training programs, and awareness initiatives for employees.
- Review and update privacy notices, consent forms, and data processing agreements.
- Work with IT and business units to ensure secure handling and storage of customer and employee data.
- Manage data breach incidents, conduct risk assessments, and report to relevant authorities if required.
- Legal & Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor and ensure the company's compliance with retail industry laws and regulations (e.g., consumer protection, advertising laws, health & safety regulations).
- Provide legal support on licensing, permits, and regulatory requirements affecting operations.
- Provide report to the related parties internally and externally.
- Liaise with government agencies, regulators, and external counsel on legal matters.
- Conduct internal audits and legal risk assessments to identify areas of non-compliance.
- Legal Advisory & Support
- Provide legal advice to different departments (e.g., operations, marketing, HR, finance) to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Support litigation and dispute resolution processes, working with external legal counsel when needed.
- Conduct legal training sessions to educate employees on key legal topics.
REQUIREMENT
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB); a Master's degree or legal certification is a plus.
- 3–5 years of experience in corporate legal, compliance, or a law firm, preferably in the retail, e-commerce, or FMCG industry.
- Strong understanding of data protection laws, corporate compliance, and contract law.
- Experience in regulatory dealings and contract negotiations.
- Knowledge of consumer protection and employment law is a plus.
