Technician, Maintenance 3rd Shift
Position Description:
Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, this position is responsible for general facility maintenance and effectively maintaining a wide variety of warehouse distribution equipment (conveyors, picking robots, wrappers, case erectors, material handling and packaging equipment) in a modern 850,000 sq. ft. distribution center (DC) focusing on safety, equipment reliability and continuous improvement. Technician will maintain distribution equipment (mechanical and electrical) by performing preventive maintenance (PM’s), troubleshooting, conducting repairs and supporting capital investment projects.
Essential Job Duties:
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on warehouse distribution equipment (varies types of conveyors, picking robots, stretch wrappers, case erectors, scanners, material handling and packaging equipment).
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM’s) and diagnostics tasks on warehouse distribution equipment as directed by Supervisor.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a power industrial truck (PIT) license to be able safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, cherry pickers, and turret trucks.
- General facility and building maintenance including, but not limited to the following: plumbing, lighting, drywall repairs, painting, and basic HVAC maintenance.
- Ability to work at heights up to 35-40 feet.
- Help serve as a liaison with effective communication (written and oral) between leadership and team members.
- Ability to evaluate the use of various resources and make knowledgeable decisions regarding safety and company standards and policies.
- Assist in providing on-the-job training for employees.
- Leads by example, approachable, and follows through on commitments.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures and provide feedback to Supervisor when inconsistencies are observed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree, technical training and/or certifications preferred.
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in a DC or industrial environment; 5+ years preferred.
- Proven mechanical aptitude and the ability to use hand and power tools.
- Electrical knowledge (AC and DC); use of multimeter as diagnostic tool, effectively troubleshoot low voltage devices/systems, motor controls including Allen-Bradley VFD’s, and experience working with120V up to 480V 3-phase.
- Previous experience with conveyor maintenance.
- Sound understanding of safety principles and procedures including lockout tagout.
- Self-motivated and ability to work in a low supervision environment.
- Proficiency with computers, including email and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
- Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to occasionally perform work from ariel platforms (scissor and boom lifts) up to 35-40 feet.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds and consistently stand/walk on a concrete floor, bend, stoop, kneel, and ascend and descend stairs and ladders.
