Position Description:

 

Facilities Manager is a skilled leader with a robust background in automation and controls, mechanical and electrical systems, conveyance, and advanced maintenance practices to support our fast-paced distribution center (DC). The Facilities Manager will drive the operational reliability of our systems, focusing on automation controls, modern building management systems, and professional maintenance standards. Technical expertise will ensure that our high-demand facility operates safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

        • Safety & Compliance:
    • Promote and drive safety across facility and ensure compliance with safety protocols, including NFPA 70E, arc flash, lockout/tagout, and environmental regulations.
    • Lead risk mitigation strategies and maintain up-to-date safety procedures and records, with an emphasis on electrical and equipment safety.
  • Equipment & Facility Maintenance:
    • Drive professional maintenance practices, including predictive and preventive maintenance, to maximize equipment and asset life and reduce unplanned downtime.
    • Oversee and support troubleshooting of electrical systems up to 480 volts, mechanical systems, HVAC, fire protection systems, and automation controls.
    • Utilize analytical tools and data-driven approaches to forecast maintenance needs and ensure continuous facility improvement.
    • Ensure facility is maintained at optimal performance, addressing both current and long-term needs while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee and execute facility projects that enhance automation, safety, and efficiency, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and vendor management.
    • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring work meets quality standards and aligns with our operational objectives and maintenance goals.
  • Technical & Operational Expertise:
    • Implement and oversee control systems to optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and support real-time decision-making.
    • Maintain expertise in automation and controls, PLC’s, and networking. Allen-Bradley controls experience preferred.
    • Develop and refine maintenance protocols for mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, aligning with best practices in a high-performance distribution center.
  • Leadership & Team Development:
    • Build and lead a high-performing maintenance and facilities team with a focus on developing technical skills in automation and controls, electrical power distribution and mechanical systems.
    • Mentor and train team members in professional maintenance standards (preventive and predictive maintenance), fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
    • Develops rapport, trust, and open communication to enhance the growth and job performance of direct reports.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field preferred; or 15 years of relevant maintenance experience in a distribution center or industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Proficiency in building and equipment maintenance, electrical and mechanical systems, HVAC, networking, powered industrial trucks (PIT) equipment and fire safety systems.
    • Expertise in automation and controls, and PLCs (Allen-Bradley platform preferred).
    • Solid background in project management, vendor and contractor management, and budget oversight.
    • Knowledge of safety protocols, OSHA, NEC, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and risk management practices.
    • Analytical and problem-solving mindset with excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Progressive leadership experience with a hands-on approach and commitment to team training and mentorship.
