Job Summary

 

The Transportation Associate Manager is responsible for overseeing international inbound and outbound traffic and the compliant and timely shipping/delivery of product in a multi-brand, multi-channel and multi-store distribution operation.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Responsible for training of staff to support all inbound and outbound shipping responsibilities.
  • Ensure KPI’s are being monitored and met.
  • Review and create SOP’s.
  • Manage international and domestic transportation for Shiseido Americas.
  • Work closely with internal departments, customers, freight forwarders and carriers in establishing and maintaining processes. 
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with all key forwarder personnel at origin and destination points to insure timely movement and delivery of freight. 
  • Monitor service levels and delivery dates and follow through with forwarder contacts on all issues that may occur through to resolution. 
  • Provide updates to relevant internal and external customers.
  • Manage processes directly with customers/vendors who are shipping both internationally and domestically. 
  • Help insure customer/vendor shipping compliancy and meet shipping/delivery windows. 
  • Insure compliant hazmat shipping. 
  • Review and create required domestic and international shipping documents as needed. 
  • Provide HTS classifications as needed. 
  • Communicate and monitor cutoff dates/times to meet scheduled departures and support delivery by dates. 
  • Provide updates to relevant internal customers of any issues that may arise (production delays, transit delays, etc.)
  • Support Customs Compliance Manager to take full advantage of customs programs that Shiseido may be eligible for (duty drawback, NAFTA, free trade agreements). 
  • Communicate with shipping vendors to maximize usage of shipping space to minimize freight costs. 
  • Review pallet configurations and container load patterns.  

 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS or equivalent management work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years plus of direct high volume logistics or shipping experience.
  • Proven leadership and relationship record.  Ability to communicate and execute objectives through a team environment.  Ability to motivate and drives to results.
  • Ability to handle and perform multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.  Ability to respond effectively to shipping statuses of orders.  Ability to communicate ideas, directions and information to others via verbal or written means.  Ability to prioritize your work and the work of others.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines while working in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be analytical and have a strong attention to details.  Strong reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience with TMS and/or WMS systems
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
