Summary

Following all compliance with cGMP, GLPs, and other regulatory guidelines including Shiseido’s guidelines, the primary responsibility of this position is to conduct necessary analyses in QC Lab related to product release for raw materials, bulk products, finished goods, stability samples and investigational samples.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe and clean lab environment as well as data integrity. 
  • Conducts analysis and reports data in data management system such as LIMS / ELN / SAP when applicable. Performs investigations of Out of Specification or Out of Trending (OOS / OOT) and writes investigation reports. Follows up necessary actions needed.
  • Has good experience of analytical instrumentation, such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV and wet chemistry are necessary. ICP-OES experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Familiar with USP / NF Monographs / ACS compendia etc.
  • Performs method transfer, data entry and prepares documents with administrative duties as needed.
  • Disposes all laboratory waste properly, cleans QC glassware.
  • Evaluates raw materials and lab chemicals when needed.
  • Drafts, writes, revises / updates SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and WIs (Work Instructions)
  • Must be able to stand or sit long hours. Be able to climb lab use ladders when required.
  • Occasionally lifts and / or moves approx. 25 pounds object.
  • Maintains calibration / inspection records and technical documents.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of lab non-conformance and document change control.
  • Provides coverage for technician or chemist as needed. Responds stakeholders’ emails as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Performs training for other junior members as needed.
  • Over time or weekend operation may be required according to business needs.
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

  • Have ability to operate all lab equipment including trouble shootings.
  • LIMS / ELN and SAP knowledge would be beneficial.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with a focus on Chemistry.
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience as a chemist, with experience in analytical instrumentation mentioned above
  • Familiarity of USP / NF / ACS and cGMP / GLPs.                                                              

 

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Occasional exposure to chemical vapors, fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
