Job Title: Manager, Quality Incoming Components and FG

 

Job Summary:

This position is a part of SAI Quality Department. Under the supervision of the Quality Director, Manager, Quality Incoming Components and FG ensures compliance with cGMP and company policies, and procedures.

This position is responsible for directing the daily activities of QC Inspectors and Quality Supervisors related to quality evaluation of Incoming Components, WIPs and Finished Goods received or produced at Shiseido Americas East Windsor site ensuring their compliance with established Specifications/Standards.

Inspections can be performed at either Shiseido Americas locations or at authorized Vendors / Subcontractors.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support departmental and organizational goals by initiating and completing projects.
  • General responsibilities include assignment of duties, setting inspection priorities issuing inspection/audit dispositions (accept/reject), auditing inspector performance and assisting in the resolution of production, vendor, or consumer related issues.
  • Support the daily activities of Production Department by working closely with production team and providing guidance to produce high quality products aligned with the specifications.
  • Train and evaluate QC Inspectors on inspection methodologies, sampling techniques and proper usage of various test equipment.
  • Disposition products after inspection (accept/reject). Conduct, as required, investigation into production quality issues and communicate them with Production personnel. Establish re-work standards and procedures. Initiate and track root cause analysis, CARs, and PARs for continuous improvement. Follow-up to ensure action was taken and was proper.
  • Assist QA Group in investigating and resolving quality related issues and consumer complaints
  • Monitor and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly quality performance results, productivity results and inspection backlog data.
  • Participate and provide data for vendor selection, evaluation, qualification, certification, and performance scorecards.
  • Conduct Quality System Audits of Packaging Components suppliers.
  • Liaise between cross-functional departments (AIC, Marketing, Packaging, Planning, NPC, and Procurement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.  

 

Working Relationships/Key Stakeholders:

  • Horizontal: Suppliers, Production, Planning, Procurement, Packaging, NPC, Customer Service, Accounting/Finance, Warehouse, IT and Human Resources departments
  • Vertical: Quality Director

 

Financial Accountability

  • Handle budget for the QC Packaging Operations team - Cost of lab supplies and overtimes.

 

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Minimum 5 – 8 years’ experience in Quality Control environment preferably in cosmetics, personal care, pharma, or food packaging industry with exposure to FDA and cGMP regulations.
  • Supervisory experience in a QC environment.      
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university in a technical/STEM area such as Science, and/or Engineering or higher.
  • ASQ - Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), Green or Black Belt certification is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of attribute and variable inspections principles, ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 or ISO 2859 sampling methods.
  • Ability to set up, maintain and use laboratory equipment.
  • Strong mathematical, technical, and problem-solving skills; decision making, data collection and analysis. Ability to see the color.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently. Blueprint interpretation. Strong communications and interpersonal skills.  Knowledge in basic math and statistical calculations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills. Positive team building attitude
  • Ability to set priorities and communicate clear expectations. Positive leadership and team building skills.                
  • Solid computer skills with Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook. SAP or other production system environment experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently handling large volumes of work and changing priorities as needed under minimal supervision.  
  • Self-motivated.
