Job Title:  Manager, Production

Job Summary:

The Manager, Production is responsible for executing a weekly production plan while ensuring that all safety, quality and productivity goals are met, and all cGMP and OTC procedures are followed.  The Manager is responsible for operational excellence via continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and team development.  Overall, this position ensures that all operations are executed efficiently and effectively without any compromise to safety and quality.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop capabilities of direct reports by providing mentoring, constructive feedback and training.
  • Provide support to the Supervisors in the daily management of the department activities.
  • Charter projects to drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Participate in weekly OEE meetings and identify/lead projects to drive OEE improvement.
  • Work with the Quality department to resolve finished good non-conformances and identify corrective actions.
  • Identity and implement ideas to improve RTFT.

Working Relationships/Key Stakeholders:

  • Direct reports:  to ensure departmental objectives are met, procedures are followed, and proper training is being planned and executed.
  • Quality:  a strong and collaborative relationship is paramount for the required identification and implementation of corrective actions related to quality issues found in production.
  • Planning:  interacting with Planning daily to set proper weekly production goals that both meet the customer’s needs and optimize the department’s performance goals.
  • Maintenance & Technical:  work with both Maintenance and Technical teams to identify projects to improve plant performance and plan and execute line trials to support new product launches.

Financial Accountability 

  • Close collaboration with Plant finance partner to ensure adherence to budget expectations.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • 5 years Supervisory experience in fast paced, GMP production environment required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a high performing team and achieve results.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Root cause analysis and Corrective Action implementation.
  • Ability to build and foster strong cross-functional relationships.
  • 4-year college degree (Engineering) preferred.  5+ years’ relevant industry experience (including managerial) required.
  • Cosmetic or Pharmaceutical experience preferred.
