JOB SUMMARY

This R&D position is primarily responsible for the planning and execution of pilot-scale manufacturing processes to seamlessly transition the development of new Shiseido products from formulation to manufacturing. The Engineer I is charged with being able to identify and solve potential issues with scaling-up formulas through process experimentation, observation, and data analysis.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

• Under direction and guidance from senior team members you will study, understand, and execute pilot scale batches of R&D lab formulas for a smooth transition to manufacturing/production scale while providing fluid communication between R&D and Manufacturing. This involves all facets of R&D Pilot Production: Experimental Design, Execution, Physical/Analytical Testing, and Quantitative Analysis and Interpretation.
• You will work alongside formulating chemists from the early developmental stage of projects to help determine potential future quality and process concerns. 
• You will acquire the knowledge necessary to create a Design of Experiments (DOE) to solve processing challenges.
• You will design, prepare, and execute manufacturing trial and process validation batches of assigned projects.
• You will have active participation in the understanding and resolution of new/existing manufacturing issues.
• You will be responsible for compliance of assigned work area with company-set standards for laboratory safety and general maintenance.
• You will investigate out-of-specification manufacturing batches and production non-conformances, as needed.  Implement effective and efficient corrective and preventive actions

WHO YOU ARE 

• You have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related degree.
• You have 0-2 years in a science-related industry, preferably personal care.
• You have strong organizational, communication and writing skills.
• You are driven to continuously learn and test new ideas independently and in teams.
• You are proficient in MS Office applications

The base pay for this position may vary based on geographic location. Actual base pay offered will be based on several factors including job-specific knowledge, education, skills, and depth of experience. In addition to base pay, we may offer additional forms of compensation as components of a total compensation package, including participation in our bonus program which features the ability to overachieve, in addition to a full range of competitive benefits.
