Job Summary: 

The Director of Production is responsible for ensuring that all Safety, Quality, Productivity, and financial goals are met and that all GMP and OTC procedures are followed while executing a weekly production plan.  He/She is responsible for operational excellence via continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and team development.  Overall, this position is to ensure that all operations are executed efficiently and effectively without any compromise to safety and quality.  This position is responsible for establishing mid- and long-term department goals, creating a road map to achieve them and for building a high performing, engaged team.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develop capabilities of direct reports by providing mentoring, constructive feedback, and training
  • Identify & develop long term strategies for the Department including capital investments, personnel development, capacity analysis, change management
  • Charter projects to drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity.  Focus on innovation; propose creative, alternative solutions to current Production methodologies, processes, and bottlenecks.
  • Participate in weekly OEE meetings and identify/lead projects to drive OEE improvement.
  • Work with the Quality department to resolve finished good non-conformances and identify corrective actions.  Identify and implement ideas to improve RTFT.
  • Manage, monitor departmental budget & all monthly results reporting.  Assist in establishing financial/production standards.
  • Work closely with the Planning department to set a weekly and monthly production plan that supports product launches, improves customer service levels, and supports the Production department's efficiency goals

                    

Working Relationships/Key Stakeholders:

  • Direct Reports to ensure departmental objectives are being met, procedures are being followed, and proper training is being planned and executed.
  • Quality:  A strong, collaborative relationship with the Quality Department is required for the identification and implementation of corrective actions related to quality issues found in production.
  • Planning:  The Director of Production will interact with the Planning team on a weekly basis in order to set the proper weekly production goals that both meet the Customer's needs and optimize the Production department's performance goals
  • Maintenance & Technical:  The Director of Production will work with both the Maintenance and Technical teams to identify projects to improve performance and to plan and execute line trials to support new product launches.

 

Financial Accountability 

  • Responsible for building annual budget and managing monthly department budget and identifying cost saving initiatives

 

Qualifications & Competencies: 

  • 10 years management experience in a fast-paced, GMP production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a high performing team and achieve results
  • Cosmetic or pharmaceutical experience preferred
  • Experience implementing TPM
  • Management skills:  Ability to set and communicate a clear vision and expectations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on team development
  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Ability to build and foster strong working relationships with support departments
  • Entrepreneurial:  Ability to identify and implement innovative solutions
  • Agility:  Able to adapt to changing priorities
  • 4-year college degree, Engineering preferred
